Caribbean Airlines Will Not Transport Primates for Use in Vivisection

Posted by ARFF

In March, shortly after Amerijet International announced that it had ceased transporting primates destined for the research industry, ARFF sent a letter to the CEO of Caribbean Airlines urging the airline to follow Amerijet’s example. In ARFF’s Spring newsletter, we urged readers to also contact the airline.Caribbean Airlines has a history of transporting primates for the research industry. For example, in May 2009, the airline transported 36 African green monkeys from Barbados to Miami. The shipment was for a company that provides animals to laboratories.

ARFF did not receive a response to our letter, or to our follow-up emails, but recently Caribbean Airlines added the following statement to their website (here), in bold type: “Caribbean Airlines will not accept primates used for laboratory research experimentation and exploitation purposes.”

That’s good enough for us!

Please thank Caribbean Airlines for taking this important and compassionate stand against the cruel international primate trade. Send a brief thank you note to: mail@caribbean-airlines.com
