Pro-Vivisection Extremists Collaborate Against the Truth

This email was originally posted on ScienceBlogs and then quickly edited to cover up some of its rather embarrassing admissions. It is a communication from Paul Browne of Speaking of Research, a pro-vivisection extremist site, to solicit help in his disinformation campaign in support of Primate Products. We can see that our just struggle against the primate slave traders at PPI has elicited fearful responses from the pro-torture community.

“We could really do with your help on this one. PeTA and Camille’s loons have the bit between their teeth and are getting quite a lot of traction in the local press and the web from their lies and distortions regarding Primate Products, and their campaign seems to have gained quite a lot of momentum. While most of Primate Product’s clients have stood firm the pressure is only going to grow, as DrugMonkey’s post yesterday indicates.

Our problem is that so far only a few hundred people have viewed Allyson’s post (see Confronting Misrepresentation) , and quite a few of them appear to be AR supporters, so we need to get it out to a far broader audience. Speaking of Research may have some fans, but our number of regular readers has never exceeded a few hundred a day, we only get into the thousands when we are involved in controversies such as baboongate at OSU and when we hold rallies. Folk clearly don’t find my writing about the contribution of animal research to medical advances that exciting. Unfortunately this means that people who might be interested often miss important stories when they do happen.

We need to teach organizations like Primate Products Inc and the University of Florida that they need to engage more with the public, and that there are those out there willing to support them.

Please help us if you can, you and your readers could help to turn things around.

Paul”

  1. Did you ever consider that you don't have a lot of readers because what you stand for is repulsive? When people learn the truth about the cruelty animals suffer in "studies" of little value to human medical science, they cannot support your torture scheme. The small percentage who do support you represent the socio and psychopaths inherent in societies.

    1. What Provivisectionists stand for is not repulsive. Have you ever stopped to consider how many lives are currently being lived because of what vivisection has done for modern society. I have type 1 diabetes and it would not be treatable condition, had it not been for vivisection. You say it is repulsive but even you or some of your friends exist because of vivisection. The procedure for a C-Section would not have been realised had it not been for vivisection. Provivisectionists are not psychopaths, and neither are antivivisectionists. People are allowed the right to express their views in society. If however, you need proof of the disasterous effects of skipping the correct stages of vivisection just look at the results of Thalidomide in the late 50s. Vivisection is progress.

  3. NIO Editorial Note to Paul Browne: I'll be happy to help you write more exciting and fun posts about animal torture. Your problem isn't that your style is rather staid. The problem is that you need a solid foundation of truth — not the lies and distortions generated over at SOR — and then you can add on some emotive speech, hyperbole, and rhetoric to engage those who are not scientifically-oriented. Call me. Let's talk about what you want to write in the future before you publish it. 🙂 -Camille (352) 396-4132

  4. I have to wonder how anyone in sane mind could argue in favor of torture, pain when alternatives are there and are available!
Or perhaps besides a good dose of insanity there is a main reason: GREED and maintaining the status quo with its silver lining of comfort.
What state of mind should one be in really, and be able to enjoy “the money” that comes from the veins of tortured and abused innocent, sentient beings? It is deeply disgusting, vulgar and shameful for our share in the history of mankind!
